GARDEN STATE WINE GROWERS ASSOCIATION
2023 PASSPORT CONTEST WINNER SELECTED

New Jersey VIP Experience Awarded to Selected Recipient

Haddonfield, NJ (September 13, 2023) – On Thursday, July 27th, Tahesha Way, who was appointed as New Jersey’s Lieutenant Governor following the passing of Sheila Oliver, played a key role in selecting Theresa Weems as the winner of the Garden State Wine Growers Association’s Passport Contest for 2023. This support underscores Tahesha Way’s commitment to promoting the state’s wine industry and celebrating its enthusiasts.

To be eligible for the contest, participants and entrants in the Garden State Wine Growers Association’s Passport Program are required to visit all affiliated wineries and vineyards within the Garden State. They must track their progress using a digital passport. The grand prize for the Passport Program this year is an exclusive VIP experience in New Jersey, customized to the winner’s preferences and including a guest.

Theresa Weems, of Old Bridge, New Jersey, is the official 2023 Passport Contest winner and will enjoy a personalized New Jersey VIP experience with her sister across the beautiful Garden State!

During a conversation about her passion for travel some time ago, Theresa’s family friend, affectionately referred to as ‘Aunt Liz,’ excitedly shared her newly acquired NJ Wine Passport. This instantly piqued Theresa’s interest and inspired her to begin her own adventure exploring the world of New Jersey wines!

“Although I have spent most of my life in NJ I had no idea we had so many beautiful vineyards and wineries here with delicious wines,” Theresa Weems. “ I am an avid traveler trying to see the world and collect as many passport stamps as possible, 39 and counting. I say all that to say the Garden State Wine Growers Association’s Passport to NJ Wine Country contest was basically created for me.”

“In addition to producing outstanding wines, New Jersey’s 60+ wineries offer an outstanding destination for locals and visitors alike,” said Nancy Painter, Founder and Publisher of Edible Jersey. “Wine aficionados and friends can enjoy spectacular views, see viticulture in action, meet winemakers, dine or picnic in beautiful vineyard settings … all within an easy drive. The Garden State Wine Growers Association’s annual Passport program underscores these unique advantages, and makes it fun and easy for everyone to experience NJ Wine Country. We at Edible Jersey are excited to, once again, be working with the Association on the Passport program and the winners’ prize package.”

“The Garden State Wine Growers Association congratulates Theresa Weems,” shared Devon Perry, Executive Director of the Garden State Wine Growers Association. “The hard working farmers and families across New Jersey’s wine industry who run wineries, vineyards and tasting rooms celebrate all visitors for their ongoing love of New Jersey wine and vines!”
