CHEF DAVID BURKE TO SUPPORT THE GARDEN STATE WINE GROWERS ASSOCIATION

WITH A SURPRISE AT HIS ‘DINNER IN THE DARK’ EVENT SERIES

David Burke Hospitality Management and the Garden State Wine Growers Association to partner for a new dining experience series

Haddonfield, NJ (June 16, 2023) – David Burke Hospitality Management and the Garden State Wine Growers Association will partner in Burke’s new series, Dinner in the Dark: a sensory dining experience. The most recent in the series on June 6 at Red Horse by David Burke in Rumson, was sold out. A second dinner planned for June 22 at THE GOAT in Union Beach, and a third dinner on July 12 at Red Horse.

Each dinner promises to delight and surprise diners with new dishes during the five-course “secret” menu paired with one signature cocktail, one glass of champagne, wines from notable regions and sometimes New Jersey wines (see details below for June 22 event). Chef David Burke is on-hand with an “edu-taining” narrative throughout the experience. Reservations are required; ticket price and venue information are below.*

“When planning our new ‘Dinner in the Dark’ series,” said Burke, “it occurred to me that New Jersey wine pairings would make the ultimate ‘blind tasting’ against notable wine labels. New Jersey wines belong on the table. The growers and makers have worked diligently to create wines that express impressive nuances. As a New Jersey native I think it’s time to recognize their efforts. I support local when ‘local’ meets my expectations, just like our legendary Jersey tomatoes, peaches and corn. I also love to have a bit of fun and continue to surprise,” explained Burke.

While the menu and pairings are a secret, we can share a little bit about the vintners behind the bottles; for this occasion, including Bellview Winery, which was selected for the first event.

Bellview Winery is located on soil the Quarella family has been farming for a century in Landisville, Atlantic County. Bellview Winery opened its doors in 2000 and rapidly became recognized as one of New Jersey’s premier wineries.  Jim Quarella, founder and president, and winemaker David Gardner take pride in crafting fine estate wines exclusively from the grapes cultivated on their 50-acre vineyard. There is so much variety, from award-winning whites to reds to their ever-popular Fiesta Sangria.
