Come join us for an evening of Live Jazz Music! This Thursday we will have musicians from the Franklin and Alison Dance Band, Keith Franklin on piano and Steve Varner on bass.
Keith Franklin has a heavy background in collaborations with many well known musicians.
He has a B.A. from Rutgers University in Piano. He has studied at the Maynard Ferguson School of Jazz. He has studied with Dennis Sandole (composition), improvisation with Phil Woods, Olga Vontil of the Budapest Conservatory, Jackie Bayard in NYC, and Kenny Barron. He toured with his original band, as well as opened for Blood, Sweat, and Tears; B.B.King, The YoungBloods, and Iron Butterfly!
Has been performing at many ventures in NY, such as the Supper Club, Sardi’s, The Rainbow Room as well as many jazz clubs in Philly and N.J His original CD, Take Heart, is due out just in time for Thursday! It is an all original album, with jazz tunes, latin , and the singer songwriter performing a mixture of ballads swinging jazz and latin tunes, a full horns and string section with outstanding vocals.
His collaborations with bassist Steve Varner are taking on a new feel and a great working relationship.
Steve Varner, a mostly self-taught bassist, was born and raised in Tennessee, and began traveling the U.S. and Canada throughout the 1970′s. After settling in Central Pennsylvania in 1980, he began to work, tour and record on both Acoustic and Electric bass with a wide circle of improvisational musicians. Now residing in northern New Jersey, Steve has performed with such jazz greats as: Pat Martino, Phil Woods, Dave Liebman, James Moody, Ernie Watts, Billy Hart, Tierney Sutton, and Patty Austin
